JAMES FISHER
Lawyer
James completed his secondary education at The Cathedral College and in 2009 he completed his law degree at the Queensland University of Technology graduating with Honours.
After completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, he was admitted to the legal profession as a Solicitor in 2010, James joined the firm in 2011.
In 2012 he was awarded his Master of Laws degree, also from the Queensland University of Technology.
Still studying, James’ research interest is in effective communication in a range of legal contexts and his PhD thesis will investigate the role of plain language in lawyer-client interactions.
James advises clients in the following areas:
James has been involved in many hearings before the Fair Work Commission as well as QCAT and various Courts. He has developed a practice in Employment Law acting for both employers & employees.
He has an interest in mentoring law students and combines his role at South Geldard Lawyers with a position at Central Queensland University where he teaches in the faculty of Business and Law.
Outside the law James enjoys music and reading.
